The Marietta Morning Rotary Club (“The Club”) celebrated it’s 25th anniversary in September 2016. The Club is one of two Rotary clubs in Marietta, Ohio. The values for Rotary Club’s around the world are service, fellowship, diversity, integrity, and leadership. On a global scale, Rotary Clubs are most known for:
- Promote peace
- Fight disease
- Provide clean water, sanitation, and hygiene
- Save mothers and children
- Support education
- Grow local economies
Locally, The Club meets those global initiatives through service projects and fundraising for charities and local non-profits, such as the United Way, YMCA, elementary schools and other city projects.
The Club’s impact on Marietta is palpable: the “Discovery Garden” on the corner of 7th Street and Pike Street welcomes residents and visitors into downtown Marietta. The club donates over 300 dictionaries annually to 3rd grade classrooms in the Marietta City School District and the surrounding area. Each April, The Club hosts the International Dinner, welcoming and embracing cultural recipes from around the world into Marietta for a community dinner, embracing our personal and cultural differences.
