The Federal Fair Housing Act, passed as part of the Civil Rights Act of 1968, prohibits discrimination in housing-related transactions in America for individuals who are members of several protected classes — these include race, color, gender, national origin, religion, sex, familial status, disability and, in the State of Ohio, veterans.

The Marietta Fair Housing Board is an auxiliary initiative created by and operating under the direction of the Mayor of Marietta, OH.
