A Taste of the World debuted in 2005 and quickly became a favorite springtime event in Marietta. The event features tantalizing cuisines from 15 or more countries each year, live entertainment, and an international bazaar. The event is a feast for the senses with each “chef” preparing two to three foods from their native countries for guests to sample – everything from traditional beverages, appetizers, entrees, pastries, and desserts. The chefs are either immigrants or first generation Americans thereby maintaining the authenticity of the foods. Learn a little about each country from the chefs, many of whom wear their country’s traditional attire and decorate their tables with artifacts from abroad. This year, our entertainment is flamenco dancer, Griset Damas Roche, originally from Havana, Cuba. During dinner you may also visit the international bazaar to bid on items from around the globe. The proceeds of this annual event benefit the Marietta Morning Rotary Club’s local literacy projects, including the 3rd grade dictionary project and the Rotary Reading Room at the Boys and Girls Club.
